My career profile
An early nursing career, where I had leadership roles in hospitals and communities , ignited a passion for learning, education, health and team working. I have also held roles as a Senior Fellow at the University of Birmingham, where I focussed on primary care, leadership, organisational development and coaching, and as a Clinical Director in the NHS. I have lead national leadership development programmes, including the NHS Management Training scheme and contributed to MBAs and MSc programmes. I currently work as an Organisational Development and Leadership Consultant, and am an accredited Executive Coach and qualified to use a wide range of psychometric tools and assessments. I hold a range of honorary and associate roles with Universities in the UK and in Australia. I have extensive experience of working with individuals, teams and organisations, at local, national and international level on both long and short term projects. I believe myself to be a creative, skilled facilitator and coach.
I am passionate about coaching and/or tutoring because it creates an opportunity to work with people and teams on a personalised basis, to make sense of things and unleash their best thinking, in order to develop organisations, teams, systems and themselves.
The assignment of which I am most proud is one where I worked with a Director who through coaching and sheer hard work and commitment ( including some hiccoughs), totally turned his life and work role around so that he now ….has weekends off to be with his family, schedules and takes regular breaks, turned the business performance around to be the best performing area in the organisation ( including having the strongest engagement scores) …. And now sees himself as a leader who still has much to learn and is passionate about sharing his story and creating development opportunities so others can develop too.
